Matarromera Group has joined the fight against breast cancer by shining a pink spotlight on its central site, the Emina Ribera Winery

This year, Matarromera Group steps up its support for the Spanish Anti-Cancer Association, in more ways than one. The scope of the winery’s support includes lighting up the Emina Ribera Winery, the group’s central site in Valbuena de Duero, in pink; sponsoring the Race against Cancer in Valladolid; raising awareness on social media and handing out pink bows to employees and customers alike.

For many years, Matarromera Group has held close ties with the Spanish Anti-Cancer Association (AECC), a collaboration that has given rise to various special events and activities. On this occasion, the Emina Ribera Winery, the building that serves as winemaking group Matarromera’s central site, situated in the very heart of Ribera del Duero, proudly stood pretty in pink to show its support on Breast Cancer Awareness Day.

This may be the first time the group has shown its support by shining a light on its central site, but their collaboration with the Spanish Anti-Cancer Association is a longstanding initiative that goes back many years. Next Sunday 23 October, Matarromera’s Carlos Moro Foundation will again, as in previous years, be a proud sponsor of the 5th Race against Cancer.

The group’s employees actively engage in this initiative by wearing pink bows to show their solidarity with those affected by the illness. On top of this, the company’s various social media profiles will be showing their support by sharing photos and messages over the course of this period.

For Carlos Moro, President of Matarromera Group, “these actions are part and parcel of our commitment to collectives that deal with delicate issues and are borne out of a desire to spread social awareness of this cause far and wide. We want those who are affected by this terrible illness to feel our most sincere support”.

The Emina Ribera del Duero Winery building was constructed in 2005, nestled in San Bernardo, right within the golden oenological triangle formed by the towns of Valbuena de Duero, Pesquera de Duero and Peñafiel, and sits beside the Santa María de Valbuena Monastery, where Cistercian monks planted their first grapevines in the 17th century. The Winery is home to the Emina Wine Museum, which serves as a staple site for wine tourism in the area. The winery boasts a “Q” Tourist Quality certificate, has been awarded the Spanish Wine Routes Prize for “Innovation, Quality and Sustainable Development” and has been selected by the specialist American magazine Wine&Spirits as one of the top 100 wine projects in the world.

For its part, Matarromera created the Carlos Moro Foundation in 2011 and has since collaborated with various foundations and organizations, driven by a list of goals which include providing help and support to the most disadvantaged groups and engaging in research projects that look to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals.
