Bodegas Familiares Matarromera is one of the nine Spanish winery groups involved in the new brand on offer for tourists “Spain Through its Wineries”. The brand will have its own stand (9A04 in hall 9) at the FITUR International Tourism Fair that will take place at the Feria de Madrid (IFEMA) from next Wednesday 17th January until Sunday 21st.

Spain Through its Wineries will be officially presented at 1pm next Wednesday 17th January, during the first day of the Fair, in a ceremony that will involve the Secretary of State for Tourism, the Secretary General of the WTO and the presidents of the companies that form part of the project, including Carlos Moro, president of Bodegas Familiares Matarromera.

The project is the result of a collaboration between the World Tourism Organization and the Leading Brands of Spain Forum, who have led this initiative in order to position Spain as an international reference for wine tourism. Due to this, the collaboration has gained the support of the Secretary of State for Tourism.

The aim of this brand is to offer tourists an innovative product, more comprehensive than those that have been available until now, and one that intends to generate a new source of wealth and touristic attraction based on three pillars: sustainability (environmental, economic and social), de-seasonalisation and rural development.

The key distinctive value of this new offer is that it is the first time that touristic products will be collaboratively offered and commercialised in Spain; products that will allow travellers to get to know Spain through the eyes of the 31 wineries that will host them.

This new touristic offer involves the alliance of nine of the most important Spanish winery groups: Barbadillo, Bodegas Familiares Matarromera, González-Byass, Grupo Freixenet, Osborne, Pagos del Rey (Grupo Félix Solís), Ramón Bilbao (Zamora Company), Terras Gauda and Vivanco, that, together with Innova Taxfree, honorary member and promoter of the project, form the nucleus of companies that lead this project.

Other companies that support the development of national and high value-added tourism have joined this promoting group as affiliates, such as Cajamar, Hacienda Guzmán Paradores, Gastropass and Madison.

Matarromera’s work in this field will be enriched through alliances such as “Spain Through its Wineries”, which aims to be an international reference for what our country has to offer in terms of wine tourism.

Bodegas Familiares Matarromera, wine tourism for all

From the beginning, Bodegas Familiares Matarromera has demonstrated its firm support of wine tourism, which has won it the ACEVIN Wine Tourism Prize “Wine Routes of Spain” and won its president, Carlos Moro, the Medal of Tourism Merit in Sustainability and Quality of the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism. Its wineries in Ribera del Duero (Matarromera, Emina Ribera and Renacimiento), Rioja (Bodega Carlos Moro), Toro (Bodega Cyan), Cigales (Bodega Valdelosfrailes) and Rueda (Bodega Emina Rueda), as well as Hotel Rural Emina and the restaurant La Espadaña de San Bernardo, offer a wide range of opportunities to enjoy the world of wine in a rural setting.

These wineries offer the following wine tourism experiences, among others, that internet users can find on its platform wanatur.com: winery visits, wine tastings, wine tasting introduction courses or advanced courses (always given by oenologists or other professionals), food and wine pairing meals, wine tourism weekends and more experiences that combine disseminating the culture and knowledge of the world of wine with enjoying unique settings and landscapes.

The winegrowing group is working towards a “Wine tourism for all” as part of the company’s CSR strategy, to bring the world of wine closer to disabled people. As part of this, the group has adapted the infrastructure of all its facilities, has specifically trained its wine tourism department staff to cater for people with reduced mobility, and carries out tastings and video tastings in sign language. www.wanatur.com
